The King's Birthday 2023 Honours List was recently released, recognising the outstanding contributions of 1,192 individuals across Australia.
The awards included those in the Order of Australia, meritorious awards, and recognition for distinguished and conspicuous service. Governor-General David John Hurley congratulated the
awardees, emphasising their significant local, national, or international impact across a wide range of fields.
One recipient in the General Division of the Order of Australia was our very own Mrs. Julie Emerson from Bayview. Mrs. Emerson received the Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia for her service to the community through various roles, including her leadership positions as the President of Pittwater RSL Club from 2020-2022, a Board Member since 2016, and the Secretary of ClubsNSW Metro North Regional Committee since 2020.

She is also the President of the Australian Driver Trainers Association, a Board Member since 2013, and the Nature Based Tourism Subcommittee New South Wales Environmental Trust Chair since 2018.
In addition, Mrs. Emerson has made significant contributions to various other organisations, such as the National Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council, Pittwater Council, and the
Local Government Association of New South Wales.
Governor-General David John Hurley praised the awardees for their inspiring service and substantial contributions across a range of fields, stating, "Congratulations to the outstanding Australians recognised in today's Honours List. They have made a remarkable impact in professional roles, as well as through their volunteer work. Their service is valued by us all."
